OC Sheriff’s Office releases March 2018 Litter Control Numbers

In an effort to increase awareness of the litter issue in the county, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is releasing its March 2018 Litter Control Numbers, explains Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt. “For the month of March, approximately 3,080 pounds of litter was picked up in our county by inmates at the Oconee County Detention Center. An approximate total of 161 bags of trash were collected during the month. The Environmental Services Unit answered 38 calls for service and received 10 T.E.L.L. Kobie reports and performed 12 T.E.L.L. Kobie pickups. Sixteen cases were also investigated during the month of March with six citations and two warnings being issued.” For the first three months of 2018, approximately 8,100 pounds of litter and approximately 322 bags of trash were collected.
