United Housing Connections names Upstate Continuum of Care Director of Strategic Initiatives

United Housing Connections (UHC) announced that Daniel Cooper has been named the Upstate Continuum of Care Director of Strategic Initiatives. Daniel’s primary role will be to work with the Continuum’s advisory council and nearly 80 member agencies to identify and address service gaps and duplication across the 13-county Continuum to better serve those at risk for or currently experiencing homelessness. “We are pleased to have Daniel join the United Housing Connections’ team, working on behalf of the Upstate Continuum of Care,” said Lorain Crowl, Chief Development Officer for UHC. “Daniel’s experience in public health research and development, as well as project planning and implementation is key to creating a much needed strategic plan to address homelessness in the Upstate. The goal is to find strategic ways to develop more comprehensive services that meet the needs of communities across our 13-county region.” Cooper received his Master’s Degree in Public Health from Nova Southeastern University and is certified in Human Subjects Research from the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI). He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Services Administration from Florida Atlantic University. Daniel is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Public Health Association. “I look forward to getting to know and working with all the agencies in the Continuum to help further their efforts to support and care for people in their communities experiencing homelessness,” said Cooper. The CoC was established in 2012, formed by a group of relevant organizations within our 13-county geographic area, set forth by the Department of Housing and Urban Development in the CoC Program Interim Rule. Led by United Housing Connections, the Upstate CoC is a plan to organize and deliver housing and services to people experiencing homelessness as they move into stable housing and maximum self-sufficiency. It is made up of nearly 80 agencies across 13 counties coming together to make homelessness, rare, brief and a non-recurring experience. For more information, visit www.upstatecoc.org.
