TCTC President to speak at Oconee Business Forum on Thursday

Residents are reminded that the April Business Forum is Thursday, April 12. This month’s business forum will feature Dr. Ronnie Booth, President of Tri-County Technical College (TCTC). He will be providing an update on the TCTC Oconee Campus. During his fourteen years at Tri-County, Dr. Booth has launched three community campuses, three Workforce Training Centers, an Economic Development Center, and a state-of-the-art Industrial Technology Center. In addition, he has led the establishment of several groundbreaking initiatives, including the nationally-recognized Bridge to Clemson program with Clemson University and the Connect to College program for high school dropouts. In 2015, Dr. Booth was named the Southern Region Winner of the Chief Executive Officer Award by the Association of Community College Trustees. He is the recipient of the 2017 Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award. He was named one of “15 over 50” for 2018 by the Anderson-Independent Mail. The Oconee Economic Alliance (OEA) Business Forum is a monthly opportunity for citizens and business leaders to come together in Oconee County to network, receive timely updates on topics facing the community and discuss ways to work together in making Oconee County a better place. As a part of the #GiveOconee initiative, each month the OEA will feature an Oconee County based nonprofit and solicit help in meeting their immediate needs. This month, the OEA is proud to feature the Upstate Institute of Youth Programs (UIYP). Dr. Thwanda Davidson, Executive Director of UIYP, will be in attendance. The OEA asks that you help them meet their immediate need for college-rule notebook paper, spiral notebooks, three-ring binders (all sizes), pocket folders, highlighters, mechanical pencils and pens. There will be a designated location for your donations at the forums but monetary donations are also accepted. The OEA’s goal is to challenge you to #ThinkOconee when you shop, eat, and play, but also when you give. The forum begins at 8am on April 12, and the public is encouraged to attend this free event at Thrift Development, located at 180 Bountyland Road in Seneca. The Oconee Business Forum is made possible by the generous support of the OEA membership.
