Anderson Man indicted on Federal Gun and Explosive Charges

United States Attorney Beth Drake stated today that a Federal Grand Jury in Greenville returned indictments against an Anderson man on gun and explosive charges. 27-year-old Wesley Dallas Ayers was charged in a twelve-count indictment with transportation of explosive materials with the intent to injure, possession and use of destructive devices during the commission of a crime of violence, use of a destructive device during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm that was not registered to him. The maximum penalty Ayers could face is a fine of $250,000 or life imprisonment. This case was investigated by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Joe Brewer of the Greenville office. The United States Attorney stated that all charges in this indictment are merely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
