Sewer overflow in Clemson

The City of Clemson announces that a sewer overflowed behind Earle Street on Wednesday, April 18, from 9pm until 1am. The overflow was approximately 2,500 gallons due to a sewer main being stopped up. A Utilities crew was dispatched to repair the main. The overflow did reach a drainage ditch and small stream behind Riggs Drive. This ditch drains to a small stream behind Riggs Drive, College Avenue and then through Jaycee Park. The City of Clemson recommends staying clear of the area and out of the creek for the next week to allow the area to return to its natural state. The Utility crew is currently cleaning and decontaminating the area. Sewer Overflow signs are posted in the area. The City of Clemson apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused.
