More Tax Mills requested for OC

This week, the Oconee County Budget Committee voted for one additional tax mill in order to generate money for new squad cars for the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office as well as to replace some of other vehicles and equipment. This now raises the number of new mills to 3.08 that the council will ask the auditor to levy to help pay for school resource officers in all public schools of the county. If approved, the county tax increase would impact the owners of homes assessed at $100,000 by adding $12 to their property tax bills.
