Another Stormy Afternoon

The repair crews working on the Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative system in the wake of Monday’s storm damage had reduced the number of members without power to just 12. However, for the fourth consecutive afternoon, a line of thunderstorms swept across the northwestern corner of South Carolina and created some additional outages as well as more broken poles. In addition, the support crews that arrived Monday morning from both Georgia and South Carolina are still on site and are now helping Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative with this latest round of service interruptions. During the peak of this latest storm, Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative reported 385 members without service. As of 10:35pm, Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative had 52 members still without power. Those outages were listed in Oconee County with 33 and Pickens County with 19 members. Crews have been assigned to, and were working on, the 12 locations where the power has yet to be restored. All broken poles have been replaced, and there were no known major obstacles in the way of clearing the remaining problem areas.
