BLSCM hosting Summer Celebration on Saturday

This Saturday, July 14, from 11:30am to 4:30pm, the Bertha Lee Strickland Cultural Museum hosts a Summer Celebration at the Gignilliat Community Center. The guest lecturer is Nettie Washington Douglass, who is the great-great granddaughter of Frederick Douglass and the granddaughter of Booker T. Washington. World-performing artists, the Geechee-Gullah Ring Shouters will perform their history and heritage presentation of African-American culture from slavery. Retired U.S. Marshal, Louie McKinney, an Oconee County native, will present his ESPN “Strike Team” docudrama. Five authors, four of whom are Oconee County natives, will be on hand to sign their books that will be for sale. The Summer Celebration is Saturday, July 14, at the Gignilliat Community Center, which is located at 621 North Townville Street in Seneca. It is free to attend.
