OC buying Airport Property

Authorization has been given to Oconee County Interim Administrator Richard Martin to execute the FAA grant agreement and all ancillary documents related there to, for the purchase of property located near the Oconee County Regional Airport. “This is going to help with the near future of kind of expanding the airport and to try to get ride of that house or dwelling on it to give better clearance for the planes landing and taking off at the airport. So, it is going to help in the near future, plus it has been recommended by the FAA to do so.” The Oconee County Council unanimously approved the motion to purchase the property located adjacent to the Oconee County Regional Airport, which consists of approximately .7 acres. The cost of the purchase is $165,000, of which 95% is being funded by federal and state grant sources.
