Hazardous Weather Outlook issued for Upstate

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Flash Flood Watch through Thursday, Aug. 2, evening for the Upstate of South Carolina. Scattered thunderstorms are expected today and tonight. Any of these storms will be capable of cloud-to-ground lightning. A few of the storms may also produce severe weather in the form of damaging winds. Showers and thunderstorms will continue through at least Thursday, Aug. 2, and with the continued heavy rainfall will come the threat for flash flooding. Rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches are forecast across the mountains, foothills and adjacent Piedmont, with local amounts up to 6 inches possible. A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding, which is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
