Grant to provide more Space at OC Airport

The FAA has approved a $671,000 grant for a new apron to park and ref-fuel airplanes at the Oconee County Regional Airport. At last night’s meeting of the Oconee County Aeronautics Commission, details of the grant were outlined. It requires small supplements from both Oconee County and the state Aeronautics Commission. At its meeting Aug. 21, the Oconee County Council will be asked to allocate $33,000 to meet the conditions of the grant. The project has been at least ten years in the making and will require moving part of Mount Nebo Church Road near Shiloh Road.
