OC Elections Office gets Security Upgrade

More security has been added to the Oconee County Voter Registration and Elections Office, tells Director Joy Scharich. “Physical security and cyber security have been very big topics in the election world and we are just doing some updates in the office to secure some of the doors and windows with locks and then cyber security is always an issue we are keeping up with here. It makes the office a lot more secure and we’ve had an inspection. Then the Department of Homeland Security will be back in about 30 days to see what we did and we are mostly just working on secure locks and limiting access to where we program the elections and things like that.” These security features will enhance the Oconee County Voter Registration and Elections Office’s capability to protect computers as well as other materials.
