Clemson’s First Friday Parade to follow New Route

A new route is planned for this year’s First Friday Parade. The Clemson University Media Relations Department reports that the community is invited to celebrate the beginning of the school year and kick off the football season on Aug. 31. The 6pm event, which features community groups, university departments, Panhellenic and service sororities, and other student organizations, precedes the Tigers’ first home football game, set for 12:20pm on Sept. 1, against Furman. The parade follows an alternate route due to construction on Highway 93. This year the parade begins at Centennial Boulevard adjacent to the northeast corner of Littlejohn Coliseum. The route turns left onto the Avenue of Champions then right onto Williamson Road and runs alongside the east side of Memorial Stadium before finishing on Williamson Road where it meets Palmetto Boulevard.
