Look for Seneca Recreation Survey

After the Labor Day holiday weekend, Seneca residents are encouraged to visit the city’s website at www.seneca.sc.us and take a survey on long-range recreational needs. Dr. Bob Brookover with Clemson University’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management Program will be conducting the survey on behalf of the city and says it is important for residents to participate. “This is part of a strategic plan or master plan for parks, recreation and tourism in the City of Seneca thinking about the future of what the facility and programmatic needs are that can help serve the residents of Seneca and the surrounding area and also be leveraged to drive tourism as well with being able to attract events like youth athletics and things like that. So, as part of that and the first step is that we want to get input from the public. We are going to do that in a variety of ways, the first is the survey and probably the most important way that we can get everyone’s input. So, the survey will ask about a variety of different programs, services and facilities. It will give residents the opportunity to add things that might not be included on the list that they would like to see in the City of Seneca over the next 5-10 years happen. That is everything from athletic fields, rec centers, improving downtown, trails, greenways, dog parks and anything along those lines that would be traditionally provided by a community’s parks and rec department.” The city also plans to hold some public meetings in order to allow citizens the opportunity to comment on prioritizing the need for tourism and recreational programs, facilities, amenities, and services in Seneca for the next 5-10 years.
