SDOC hoping to fill Positions with Job Fair Applicants

Several people expressed interest in open positions in the School District of Oconee County (SDOC) at Thursday’s Oconee County Job Fair. The public school system is currently seeking employees in a number of areas, tells Human Resources Director Al LeRoy. “We are looking right now most pressingly for bus drivers because we have vacancies currently. We do have a couple of clerical positions available. Right now, we are fully staffed with teachers, but we will always entertain special ed teachers. As far as the job fair goes, it has been very impressive to me. Great turnout with a lot of people coming through getting a lot of information that we hope to follow up with and hopefully give some employment opportunities to some people.” SDOC Transportation Director Ozzie Wright tells more about the need for bus drivers. “Right now, in Oconee County we are about 8-9 drivers short with the most shortages in the Walhalla area, they are down by six drivers. So, we are advertising for drivers. The pay is pretty good, the shut off is $12, but with experience it could go higher. So, we are just trying to find some qualified drivers to get our kids back and fourth to school.” It is easy to apply, adds Wright. “Go online, go under job vacancies, hit bus drivers and apply.” To learn more, visit www.oconee.k12.sc.us.
