SC Outdoor Press Association visiting OC

Members of the South Carolina Outdoor Press Association are visiting Oconee County through Saturday, Sept. 8, to write articles in their various publications hopefully drawing future visitors to the Golden Corner of South Carolina. Oconee County Parks, Recreation and Tourism Director Phil Shirley tells more about the writers coming to town. “We’re helping host it. This is a partnership with Lake Hartwell Country. This will be a tour for the South Carolina Outdoor Press Association. They’ll be looking at Anderson, Oconee and Pickens counties and we are hosting a Lake Jocassee tour. We’ll be able to showcase Lake Jocassee, the waterfalls and be able to interpret the lake and different things for them. We’re hoping for some good feedback, some good articles and some good editorial type stuff out of that. They’re here for three days, they have a packed schedule while they’re here and then they will go back and write about their experiences, pull together stories about their experiences. So, it is a cool opportunity for us to showcase who we are to get them then to put these stories into their publications.” Oconee County is known as the Golden Corner because of its climate, lakes and mountains.
