SDOC preparing for 5 Year Accreditation

Later this academic year, the School District of Oconee County will be visited by officials for its five year accreditation. This is a comprehensive review, explains SDOC Assistant Superintendent of Instruction Lisa Simmons. “We have our visit for our accreditation process on March 3-6, this year. Leading up to that visit we will have some training sessions with our building level administration teams. We have an engagement review training on Oct. 4, with a follow up training on the assessment and observation tool that this team through Advanced Ed will be using, we have that training on Nov. 4. So, this is just an organization called Advanced Ed, it is a non-profit organization that comes in to conduct an on site review just to ensure that our learners are reaching their full potential and they also have a commitment with us that through this process it helps us to continue to improve as a school district and it helps us to review data and other information about how we can continue to be the best that we can be here in Oconee County.” The team from Advanced Ed will tour different schools as well as other buildings in the district and offer feedback on ways to improve the school district.
