OC Council approves Funds for extending Sewer in Fair Play

Fair Play will soon have sewer service thanks in part to $613,300 approved by the Oconee County Council at their meeting Tuesday night. This allotment of economic development funds will cover the engineering to extend sewer lines from the Golden Corner Commerce Park off S.C. 59 in Fair Play to Exits 1 and 2 on I-85. The project is the second phase of Oconee County’s Sewer South Master Plan for sewer service in the southern part of the county. The first phase involved approximately 13 miles of sewer from the Golden Corner Commerce Park to the Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority’s treatment plant on Coneross Creek. The remaining costs of the $5.3 million project will be funded by grants from the U.S Economic Development Administration and the South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority. The project will involve the laying of 9,000 feet of force main and the building of two pump stations.
