SC Attorney General announces Victory for SCE&G Ratepayers

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announces that the rate decrease for SCE&G customers passed by the state legislature will now continue. On Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals denied SCE&G’s motion to stop the rate decrease while a court battle over it continues. The court also denied SCE&G’s request to speed-up that lawsuit, denied the company’s request to dismiss it, and allowed Attorney General Wilson to file friend-of-the-court briefs in the case. “This is another big win for SCE&G ratepayers,” Attorney General Wilson said. “We’ve argued that customers should not have to pay billions of dollars for a hole in the ground. The U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals recognized that it would be inappropriate to halt the General Assembly’s reduction of customers’ rates.”
