Salem Man arrested on Drug Charge after Traffic Stop

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Salem man on a charge of possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, third or subsequent offense after a traffic stop Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018. Booked into the Oconee County Detention Center was 65-year-old David Richard Hosemann of Friendly Drive. A deputy executed a traffic stop after observing a Ford Ranger commit a traffic violation with a tag that had expired. The traffic stop occurred in the parking lot of a business on North Highway 11 near Salem. The driver, Hosemann, produced a driver’s license to the deputy that dispatched confirmed was suspended due to cancellation of insurance. Dispatch also confirmed that the tag on the vehicle was suspended as well. Hosemann was placed under arrest. A search produced a quantity of methamphetamine. Hosemann was transported to the Detention Center and was served with a ticket charging him with operating an uninsured vehicle. Hosemann was also placed on a Temporary Custody Order until a warrant was obtained on the drug charge.
