SDOC operating as Normal Rainy Day

After inspecting the roads early this morning, the School District of Oconee County (SDOC) will operate as normal today, reports Associate Superintendent of Administration Steve Hanvey. “We think that we are one of the lucky ones and we are just far enough to the west to miss the high winds, which would have been an issue for us with the buses and could also cause some trees down. There may still be some of that that comes up, but we talked with Emergency Preparedness and Pickens County and we felt like it was safe to get the buses out there. The winds are projected to be 12-15mph. We are going to get some rain, but we go to school in the rain all the time. We just ask our drivers to slow down. Just be a little safer and slower, if they get to school a little bit late we are OK with that. We just want to make sure that they take their time and get through it. We’re glad to be able to have the day and we hope the weather cooperates and that it is out of here this afternoon for the rides home.” Please driver slower, keep your headlights on and watch for puddles on the roadway this morning.
