Walhalla approves Bonds for Water Treatment Plant

Last night, the Walhalla City Council approved two revenue bonds of up to $25 million for a new water treatment plant on Lake Keowee. The project has been years in the planning stages and the council’s unanimous approval of the two ordinances sets in motion funding to build the intake and treatment facility. The federal government has already approved a permit for the intake facility, which clears the way for the start of construction in the near future. Now the city awaits a permit from the state to build the treatment plant on Lake Keowee.
