OC Council approves transfer of Sewer Line

Following an executive session last night, the Oconee County Council unanimously approved an inter-government agreement to transfer a sewer line. Oconee County Council Chairwoman Edda Cammick explains the measure. “That is the resolution regarding the inter-governmental transferring operation agreement between Oconee County and the Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority.” This now clears up confusion on the issue of who owns and operates the sewer line from the county treatment plant at Seneca to the county’s Golden Corner Commerce Park in Fair Play. It also gives the go-ahead on a Phase II extension of lines from the Golden Corner Commerce Park to I-85. A commitment of more than $600,000 for engineering work was approved earlier, contingent on the inter-government agreement being passed.
