Seneca Man arrested for Domestic Violence

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of 25-year-old Daniel Steven Coats of Seneca for domestic violence in the first degree, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. The incident occurred late Friday night, Oct. 2, 2018. The arrest report states that Coats locked a woman in a bathroom, struck her in the face, choked her and held a sharp object against her neck threatening to kill her. He was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center and is being held on a $50,000 surety bond on the domestic violence charge and he was denied bond on the other two charges. If released on bond, Coats will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device.
