OC Sheriff’s Office holds Graduation for 5th Citizens Police Academy

A graduation ceremony was held Tuesday night, Nov. 6, 2018, at the Oconee County Law Enforcement Center for the fifth graduating class of the Sheriff’s Office “Citizens Police Academy.” The 21 graduates along with members of their families and deputies from the Sheriff’s Office attended the ceremony which was held in the second floor training room. Among the speakers was Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw, Oconee County State Senator Thomas Alexander, and Sgt. Mike McGowan, who is the facilitator of the “Citizens Police Academy.” Each graduate received a certificate of graduation, a certificate from the South Carolina State Senate and a Sheriff’s Office Challenge Coin. Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw says that the Sheriff’s Office will be hosting another “Citizens Police Academy” in 2019, with the tentative start date of September with graduation to be held in November. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will be announcing those confirmed dates sometime early next year.
