HOLIDAY EVENTS AT THE WORLD OF ENERGY

The World of Energy education center at Duke Energy’s Oconee Nuclear Station will host its sixth annual Festival of Trees, including photos with Santa Claus. The Festival of Trees is a free holiday tree display open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, beginning Nov. 29 through Jan. 4. Local organizations and businesses will decorate more than 20 trees for the event. Visitors can vote on their favorite tree; the top three winning organizations receive $2,500, $1,500 and $1,000 grants from Duke Energy to donate to their registered charity of choice. A tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for 5 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, in the World of Energy lobby. You can also visit and take photos with Santa from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8. Guests should bring personal cameras for photos. Children’s craft activities will also be available during this time. During the Festival of Trees, children are invited to the World of Energy to drop off letters to Santa in the North Pole mailbox.
