Music Director At Oconee History Musuem Honored With Special Award From South Carolina General Assembly

(Seneca, SC)——————-The music instructor at the Oconee History Museum recently was honored with a special award from the South Carolina General Assembly. Andy Brooks was awarded with the Jean Laney Harris Folk Heritage Award, which is named for the late state Representative who was respected as an outspoken advocate and ardent supporter of the arts and cultural resources of the state. Up to four artists or organizations and one advocate may receive awards each year. The program is managed jointly by the South Carolina Arts Commission and the McKissick Museum at the University of South Carolina. 

According to Leslie Hagerty, Director/Curator of the Oconee History Museum, Andy is the primary fiddle instructor for the Music Program but is also an accomplished guitar and banjo player and performs and jams with bands as well.
