No Per Kilowatt Per Hour Rate Increases Expected For Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative Customers In 2019

(Seneca, SC)————-Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative held their 2019 Media Luncheon yesterday at the Madren Center at Clemson University. Jim Lovinggood with Blue Ridge addressed several topics and answered media questions.

One of the subjects Lovinggood touched on concerned finances at Blue Ridge as Lovinggood pointed out that the Cooperative met all their budgetary goals in 2018 and there are no per-kilowatt hour rate increases expected in 2019, which has continued a trend for the last ten years.

Lovinggood says that there have been several wholesale rate increases that have been passed on to Blue Ridge but those increases have not been passed on to the membership. Lovinggood credits an increase in commercial and industrial customers as a reason why these increases have not been passed along. Lovinggood says Blue Ridge is committed to economic growth and the Cooperative takes economic growth very seriously. The last time there was a per-kilowatt hour rate increase was November of 2008, according to Lovinggood.
