Clemson University Announces Summer Scholars Program To Begin On June 2nd

(Seneca, SC)—————Clemson University has announced that the Summer Scholars Program for middle and high school students is coming up this summer for students that are interested in Clemson University. The Summer Scholars will run for eight weeks starting June 2nd and offer a wide variety of courses. Camille Swanson, who is the director of the Clemson University Summer Scholars and a former participant, said the program has increased the number of courses it offers to add variety.

Course work will be part of the program as students will take a class for a week in their field of interest with an university instructor, however, the program will also provide recreational and cultural elements as a “sneak preview” of college. Free time to explore the campus or meet representatives from Admissions or the Honors College are built into the week’s schedule.

Evening will feature many recreational activities, including time at Fike Recreation Center and a cookout on the beach at Hartwell Lake. Participants stay in the residence hall and eat meals in a dining hall throughout the week to complete their on-campus experience. Clemson students serve as counselors to guide, mentor and answer questions about life at Clemson.

The Summer Scholars Program is housed in the Clemson Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management Department. For more information, contact Camille Swanson at 864-656-2314 or by e-mailing [email protected].
