3rd Annual Great Oconee Cleanup Scheduled For This Saturday

(Seneca, SC0——————–The 3rd Annual Great Oconee Cleanup is coming up this Saturday, April 27th from 8:30am until Noon as the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, the Oconee Economic Alliance, the Keep Oconee Beautiful Association, the School District of Oconee County and Oconee County Solid Waste will partner again for this annual event. 

The pickup this year will focus on Wells Highway from each point where the highway intersects with Highway 123. The litter pickup will also encompass Davis Mill Road, two miles of Shiloh Road and one mile of South Walnut Street. 

Pre-registration is available by going online to www.eventbrite.com and searching for Great Oconee Cleanup. 

The meeting location and staging area will be Seneca High School and activity buses from the School District will provide transpiration to the litter pickup areas and back again after the end of the pickup. Law enforcement officers will be assisting with traffic control and safety. 

The fine in South Carolina for littering can be as high as $1,087.50. The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles has a toll number to call to report littering at 1-877-754-8837 by providing the location, time and a license plate number. The Sheriff’s Office also has their T.E.L.L. Kobie link on their website to report littering sites as well anonymously. 

Also, the city of Clemson will be holding a litter pickup day as well this Saturday from 9am until 11:30am along Highway 123 and Highway 76 as well as Gateway Park.
