Sports Update For Friday, April 26th, 2019; Walhalla Picks Up Postseason Win In Baseball

(Seneca, SC)——————The Walhalla baseball team picked up a win in playoff action last night with a 16-2 win over Daniel. Patrick Campbell had three hits and two RBI’s for Walhalla while Corey Loggins had three RBI’s for the Razorbacks. Aidan Evans pitched four innings with four strikeouts to pick up the win. 

The Seneca men’s and women’s track and field team each finished second in the Region 1-AAA track and field meet. Pendleton won both men’s and women’s Region titles. West-Oak finished third on the women’s side and sixth on the men’s side. 

Some of individual winners from Seneca were Micayla Collins in the girls 400 meter dash as well as the Seneca women picking up wins in the girls 4×400 meter relay and the girls 4×800 meter relay.  On the men’s side from Seneca, O’Rell Fisher won the boys 100 meter and 200 meter dash and boys long jump and the Seneca men won the 4×800 meter relay. 

Addison Berry from West-Oak won the girls 100 meter hurdles and the girls long and triple jump while Landon Carter from the Warriors won individually in the boys discus throw. 

The Clemson football team made history last night by having three of its players selected in the 2019 NFL Draft. Clemson defensive end Clelin Ferrell was selected fourth overall to the Oakland Raiders, Christian Wilkins defensive lineman was 13th overall to the Miami Dolphins. Finally, defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence was selected 17th overall to the New York Giants. 

Southern Wesleyan University announced some all conference selections for various sports at the school. Kaeleigh McDaniel and Jairy Sandoval were named third-team all Carolinas Conference selections as a defender and goaltender respectively in women’s lacrosse. Claire Page and Eric Shea were named all-Carolinas Conference selections in women’s and men’s golf respectively. Lydia Clanton, Megan New and Addie Nugent were named all conference in Softball while Clanton won the Freshman of the Year award.  Southern Wesleyan softball player Kali Berrigan was named an Elite 23 winner
