Sports Update For Thursday, May 16th, 2019; Clemson And South Carolina Men’s Golf Teams Qualify For The NCAA Tournament

(Seneca, SC)———————Both the Clemson and South Carolina men’s golf teams are headed to the NCAA men’s golf championships after both schools finished in the top five in their respective regional’s. 

The Gamecocks wrapped up fifth places after a sudden death playoff win over Colorado State in the Pullman, WA regional yesterday with Senior Scott Stevens sealing the win with a short par putt. Texas A & M won the regional with the Gamecocks finishing 12 shots back. 

Meanwhile, the Tigers finished in third place in the Austin, TX regional yesterday by shooting a one under par 283 team score. The host school Texas won the regional with a team score of 25 under par. Tiger golfer Bryce Nimmer finished sixth individually as he shot in the 60’s in two of his three rounds. 

The ACC announced yesterday that the Georgia Tech at Clemson football game on Thursday, August 29th will kick-off at 8pm and will be broadcast on the ACC Network. Also, the Clemson at Syracuse football game will be broadcast on ABC as the Saturday Night Football game on September 14th with a 7:30pm kick-off. 

South Carolina softball player Jana Johns was named Second-Team All-SEC recently while Madison Owens was named to the All-SEC Freshman team.
