Preparations Underway For Commencement Exercises For The School District Of Oconee County Next Saturday

(Seneca, SC)—————As the end of the 2018-19 school year quickly approaches, preparations are underway for commencement exercises for the three high schools in Oconee County. Those graduation ceremonies will all take place on Saturday, June 1st at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson.

Steve Hanvey, from the School District of Oconee County, was a guest on the Coffee Time program yesterday and discussed some details on where graduation preparations stand right now.  Hanvey also talked about some important items for those attending graduation ceremonies to keep in mind for next Saturday.

Hanvey says that, as of right now, they are projecting 645 total combined graduates from the three Oconee County high schools.  Seneca High School will graduate first on June 1st at 9am with an estimated number of graduates right now standing at 209.  West-Oak High School will graduate at 11:30am with 175 graduates.  Finally, Walhalla High School will graduate at 2pm with 261 graduates.  Hanvey says those numbers may change due to students in the modified block schedule who finished school in January but will be graduating next Saturday.

Hanvey says that the security measures that Littlejohn Coliseum implements for all events held there will be in effect, which means the clear bag policy will be effect and metal detectors will be used.  Hanvey also recommends those attending the commencement exercises to arrive early and make travel plans accordingly due to road construction that is going on around campus.
