Oconee County Council Approves Second Reading Of Fiscal Year 2020 School District Of Oconee County Budget

(Seneca, SC)————During their regularly scheduled meeting of Oconee County Council Tuesday night, Council voted unanimously to approve the second reading of the budget for the School District of Oconee County. 

Oconee County Council Chairman Julian Davis says that County Council and the School District have a great relationship and even with discussions earlier of a possible millage increase, Davis says that the School District is working within the budget they have. 

Davis also went on to say that he has two children in schools within the School District and that he was appreciative of everything the School District does to improve education in schools and that they are doing a great job. 

Also Tuesday night, County Council approved unanimously a new camera upgrade system at the Oconee County Courthouse at a projected cost of $56,265.37 with part of the cost being picked up by a grant in the amount of $35,000 as well as utilizing almost $15,000 in money left over from other security upgrades at the Courthouse. 

Also in executive session, Council approved negotiations to be initiated as discussed in regards to an economic development matter called Project Bolt.
