Oconee County Executive Director Provides Update On Seneca Rail Park on Coffee Time Program

(Seneca, SC)——————-Earlier this week, Janet Hartman, Executive Director of the Oconee Economic Alliance, was a guest on the Coffee Time program to talk about economic development issues in the county right now. One of the topics discussed this week was the Seneca Rail Site on Shiloh Road.

Janet gave us a couple of updates pertaining to the Seneca Rail Park. The first covered a grant that County received from the SC Rural Infrastructure Authority to go along with money from the County to bring water and sewer infrastructure service to the industrial park.

Hartman says that right now, utilities come to the boundaries of the Seneca Rail Park but now the sewer and water infrastructure will now come inside the park. Hartman said in order for a company to commit they “need to know that we’re committed and in order for us to commit, we need to have the infrastructure inside the park.”

Second, Janet provided an update on the entrance road that will be built at the site as well in a bid awarded by the County to J. Davis Construction.

Hartman said that a parcel could be sold inside of the park but it “really doesn’t do you a lot of good” if there is not access inside of the park. Hartman said that construction on the road should begin soon with infrastructure work to begin about the same time as well.
