The Anderson County Coroner’s Office Investigating Fatal Saturday Morning Residential Structure Fire

(Seneca, SC)——————The Anderson County Coroner’s Office is investigating a fatal residential structure fire that occurred Saturday morning at an address on Mountain Creek Church Road.

According to a press release from the Coroner’s Office, firefighters and paramedics responded to the incident address around 6:30am and found the structure fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters discovered the home owner outside of the residence suffering from smoke inhalation and discovered another individual inside of the residence after the fire was extinguished, according to the Coroner’s Office.

The Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 65 year old Freddie Ray Simmons.  The Coroner’s Office says that the decedent died of smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.  An autopsy has been scheduled for today.

The Coroner’s Office says that there appears to be no indication of foul play at this time and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
