South Carolina Highway Patrol And Oconee County Coroner’s Office Investigating Fatal Thursday Afternoon Accident

(Seneca, SC)—–The Oconee County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal collision that occurred near Seneca Thursday afternoon.

Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis has identified the deceased as 32 year old James Richard “Richie” Rogers, Jr. of Seneca.

According to Coroner Addis, there was a female passenger on the motorcycle identified as the decedent’s wife who was transported to Prisma Health – Greenville Memorial Hospital.  Coroner Addis said her condition is unknown at this time.

The collision occurred around 2:45pm, according to Coroner Addis, at the intersection of Singing Pines Road and Import Drive.

According to Lance Corporal Gary Miller from the Highway Patrol, the collision involved two vehicles, a 2006 Dodge pickup and a 2008 Suzuki Motorcycle.

According to Lance Corporal Miller, the Dodge pickup was traveling east and turning north onto Singing Pines Road while the motorcycle was traveling south on Singing Pines Road.  The Dodge pickup failed to yield the right of way and was struck by the motorcycle, according to Lance Corporal Miller.

The Highway Patrol has charged the driver of the pickup with Failure to Yield to the Stop Sign.

Both the deceased and his wife were not wearing a helmet and were ejected from the motorcycle
