Anderson County Coroner’s Office Investigating Fatal Fire That Occurred Last Friday

(Seneca, SC)——–The Anderson County Coroner’s Office is investigating a fatal fire death that occurred last Friday evening.

The Anderson County Fire Department along with Medshore EMS responded to an address on Airline Road in regards to reports of a structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews found the structure with flames coming out of the roof and the left side of the house.  Firefighters found the victim inside of the house and the decedent was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 56 year old Mark Steven Lowe, who was living at the residence with his brother.

According to the Coroner’s Office, the decedent died as a result of smoke inhalation and severe thermal burns.  The Coroner’s Office says the cause of the fire appears to be the result of the victim smoking in bed while he was on home oxygen.

The Coroner’s Office says that there appears to be no indication of foul play and the investigation is continuing.
