South Carolina Department Of Transportation Announces Prohibited Lane Closures For Labor Day Weekend

(Seneca, SC)——-The South Carolina Department of Transportation has announced that lane closures along the interstates are being prohibited for non-emergency highway work during the Labor Day holiday travel period.

The restrictions will be in place from 6am this Friday, August 30th through 6am next Tuesday, September 3rd.

According to the SCDOT, there are more work zones in place across South Carolina due to the Strategic 10 year plan to rebuild South Carolina’s roads and bridges. And due to that fact, the DOT is reminding motorists to remain alert and use caution.

The SCDOT is reminding motorists as well that they can keep a tab on travel conditions across the state by using the SCDOT’s 511 system. The system provides real time traffic information on all South Carolina interstate highways and some of the highways along the coast.

Users can call 511 or go online to www.511SC.org. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 day a well and users can go to the website to download the free app.
