Pickens County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Taylors Man On Two Charges Related To September Shooting Investigation

(Seneca, SC)——–The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Taylors man with one count each of Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon During Commission of a Violent Crime.

25 year old Phillip Brandon Barnes was arrested on Tuesday of this week.

According to a press release issued by the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a shooting that had occurred at an address on Jay Drive inside the county on Saturday, September 7th.

Upon their arrival, deputies were unable to locate anyone at the incident scene except for witnesses and evidence that a shooting had occurred.

According to evidence obtained as a result of the investigation, deputies were able to determine that two males had a verbal dispute which turned violent with the victim being shot.

According to the arrest warrant, the victim and a witness were attempting to leave the residence when Barnes exited the residence and shot at the victim twice, with the victim being struck once in the stomach.

The victim was transported via a personal vehicle to the hospital for treatment.

Barnes was not at the incident scene when deputies arrived back on Saturday, September 7th.
