South Carolina Highway Patrol Continues Investigation Into Fatal Thursday morning accident along I-85 in anderson county involving two tractor trailers

(Seneca, SC)——-The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that occurred this morning on I-85 southbound in Anderson County near mile marker 27, which is near Highway 81.

According to Trooper Joe Hovis of the Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 2:45am. The accident involved a Kenworth Tractor Trailer driven by a man from Decatur, GA and a 1998 International Tractor Trailer who was driven by the victim in the accident and died at the scene.

According to the Trooper Hovis, the Kenworth Tractor Trailer was parked on the shoulder of I-85 southbound while the International Tractor Trailer was traveling south on I-85. The International Tractor Trailer travelled off the ride side of the roadway and struck the Kenworth Tractor Trailer in the back.

As of 8:56am this morning, the Highway Patrol reported that two lanes of I-85 southbound have reopened after the interstate was closed for most of the morning.
