Anderson County Coroner’s Office Releases Name of man killed in Thursday morning Anderson County I-85 accident

(Seneca, SC)——-The Anderson County Coroner’s Office has released the name of a man killed in an accident that involved two tractor trailers yesterday morning on I-85 in Anderson County.

The victim has been identified as 52 year old James Waley Fields of Greenville. According to the Coroner’s Office, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene due to multiple traumatic injuries secondary to blunt force trauma.

According to Trooper Joe Hovis of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 2:45am. The accident involved a Kenworth Tractor Trailer driven by a man from Decatur, GA and a 1998 International Tractor Trailer.

The Coroner’s Office said that Fields was the driver of the International Tractor Trailer.

According to the Trooper Hovis, the Kenworth Tractor Trailer was parked on the shoulder of I-85 southbound while the International Tractor Trailer was traveling south on I-85. The International Tractor Trailer travelled off the ride side of the roadway and struck the Kenworth Tractor Trailer in the back.

The Coroner’s Office said that the accident caused both tractor trailers to ignite and catch fire.

The accident remains under investigation by the Anderson County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
