Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and Oconee County Law Enforcement Agencies to Hold Oconee County Community Rally and Unity Walk

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and Oconee County law enforcement agencies, along with community leaders and citizens, will be holding an Oconee County Community Rally and Unity Walk this Tuesday, June 16th.

The event will be held at Norton-Thompson Park in downtown Seneca from 6pm until 8pm. Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw and other law enforcement officers as well as community leaders will address those in attendance from the stage at the park. After the speeches have concluded, those who wish to participate in the Unity Walk will make a circle around Norton-Thompson Park.

Parking with be available for citizens and others who would like to attend the event at Norton-Thompson park and in parking spaces in and around the park downtown. Citizens who prefer to sit in their vehicles for the event will be able to hear the speaker’s in their cars on a radio frequency that will be given out on the day and time of the event. Those who prefer to stand outside will be able to do so on the grass at Norton-Thompson Park.

“The Community Rally and Unity Walk will give an opportunity for our citizens to meet and greet members of law enforcement in Oconee County, not just the Sheriff’s Office,” says Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw. “We are committed to serving the citizens of Oconee County and this continues a commitment I made when first elected to build partnerships to promote a safer community, which is the vision statement for the Sheriff’s Office itself. Therefore, this event is not political. We want to demonstrate to our citizens that we support them and we are here for them.”

Attendees to the event are welcome to bring their masks to wear to the event, however, masks and water will be given out while supplies last. The Sheriff’s Office and all law enforcement ask those who are attending the event to practice proper social distancing guidelines.
