Petition Against Rezoning Gaining Ground in Anderson

Anderson County Council voted on July 7 in favor of the first reading to rezone 142 acres in the area of Highway 187 and Fants Grove Road, Burns Bridge Road and William Walker Road near Pendleton, and now a petition against the move is gaining ground among some local residents. Right now, developers could build no more than 240 homes on the property as-is. If the motion is passed, developers could potentially build 435 residential units and up to 20 acres could be developed as commercial space. Neighbors said they’re hoping the petition helps to send a message.
