Man Dies Over A Month After Being in Fiery Crash

A man has died from his injuries following a fiery crash on I-85 in July, according to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office. Glenn Benzing, 64, of Anderson, died Wednesday at the Augusta Burn Center. The crash on July 6 involved nine vehicles and happened just after 2:15 p.m. in the southbound interstate lanes between Highways 81 and 8 in Anderson County. The initial crash involved two cars and one caught on fire, State Troopers said. Another car crashed into a cement wall, according to witnesses at the scene, who also said a motor home became involved and a tractor-trailer went down an embankment. An empty logging truck was in the crash, as well, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Five people were taken at the time by ambulance to Greenville Memorial with various injuries.
