Seneca’s Adams Subdivision Establishes Neighborhood Watch in Wake of Thefts

The April 13 EF-3 tornado which struck Seneca left millions of dollars in property destruction, especially in the Adams Subdivision. With many houses still being removed, replaced, or repaired, a summer crime spree has hit the area, resulting in several arrests by Seneca Police of burglars and thieves who have broken into cars, garages, and unoccupied houses.

With assistance from Seneca Police Captain B J. McClure, a group of 40 residents met Thursday evening and formed a Neighborhood Watch Program. Captain McClure told the group that national studies indicate that crime rates are dramatically impacted by such efforts.

Signage will soon be displayed as residents are encouraged to increase their vigilance and authorities step-up community patrols.
