OC United Way announces Farmers’ Market Program

The United Way of Oconee County, partnering with the state Department of Social Services, will issue free coupons to low income adults 60 and older that may be used to buy fresh produce at local participating farmers’ markets. Each eligible person will receive $35 worth of coupons that may be used from June through October 15. These free coupons will be issued at the United Way Center in downtown Seneca, beginning June 4 through June 6, or until supplies last. Applications must be submitted in person, though individuals wishing to apply for homebound seniors may provide a statement from the senior granting permission to apply on his or her behalf.
