Two Thefts reported on Wells Highway

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in regards to two recent thefts on Wells Highway near Seneca, which occurred the same weekend.  Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt gives details.  “According to investigators, one incident occurred at 1974 Wells Highway.  According to reports, someone removed the gate from the driveway to the property and stole a Green E-Z-Go Golf cart valued at $3,200 and a 5 x 10 utility trailer valued at $750.  There was also gas reportedly stolen from other golf carts as well.  Investigators believe the incident occurred sometime between noon on April 27 and 8am on April 29. The second incident occurred at 2020 Wells Highway.  According to investigators, a fence had been unbolted to enter the property.  Once on the property, 2 airlines, 2 new Exide batteries, galvanized fence posts, and a 1994 White Isuzu pickup truck were taken.  The value of all property stolen was around $4,100.  According to reports, the title of the vehicle was in the dash of the pick-up truck.  Deputies believe that the incident occurred between 10pm on April 27 and 6pm on April 29.  Deputies with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office believe that the two robberies could be related.” If you have information concerning these thefts or know who may be involved, you can call CrimeStoppers at 638-STOP or text a tip to 274637.  You do not have to give your name and if your tip leads to an arrest, you could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
