National Day of Prayer Rally in Seneca

Oconee County will host its 2nd Annual National Day of Prayer at Norton-Thompson Park in downtown Seneca tonight at 6pm. Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander will lead in a special prayer for both local and national government. Also participating in the events are the American Legion Post 120, Jim Watt from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, CW4 Tony Garland from the US Army and many other local figures.  The National Day of Prayer was organized in 1988 as the first Thursday in May. This continues a long tradition in the US of an annual day dedicated to prayer. Even before the US was founded the Continental Congress set forth a day of prayer as evidenced by proclamation in 1775. Today the National Day of Prayer Task Force strives to organize prayer in America to inspire both personal and cultural repentance and righteousness.
