American Health Behavior

The Centers for Disease Control has released statistics on the health behaviors of American adults. CDC statistian Charlotte Schoenborn says that while there has been a serious drop in smoking in this country, too many of us continue to light up.  “1 in 5 adults are smoking and that’s not good news.” Schoenborn says that there’s been a serious drop in smoking, especially by young people. “When we look at the youngest age groups there are a lot more of them that have never smoked and that is a very good sign.” While men and women have gotten healthier, it’s not easy to say which is the healthier sex, concludes Schoenborn. “Men exercise more than women, men smoke and drink more than women, so there are the pluses and minuses and it depends on the behavior as to who is following the healthier path.” To read the complete report visit the Centers for Disease Control’s website.
